Meniere's Disease Treatment
Meniere's Disease
Meniere's disease is one of the causes of tinnitus. It is an abnormality in the inner ear that cause several symptoms which include vertigo, severe dizziness, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, and as mentioned, tinnitus.
Vertigo attacks should be watched out for, for they may come unannounced and they may lead to severe nausea, vomiting, and sweating. Thus, they keep the sufferer from doing his or her tasks and other activities well.
Tinnitus is often associated with Meniere's disease because they are both conditions affecting the ear, although the former is a disease while the latter is not, but a symptom. But just like tinnitus, there is no cure for the disease, but there are measures to control it.
Some of its treatments are similar with the ringing in the ears condition in the sense that it may be controlled by reducing the fluid retention of the body by avoiding salty foods. Also, both conditions may be treated by avoiding the intake of nicotine and related ways to improve a sufferer's blood circulation.
Alternative Meniere's Disease Treatments
There are surgical procedures advocated for patients with detrimental vertigo caused by the illness though. One of these is the removal of the inner sense organ, which is referred technically as labyrinthectomy.
However, this may mean that the patient has to give up his or her sense of hearing, so this procedure is reserved for those with nonfunctional hearing in the affected ear.
Vestibular neuroctomy is another example of the surgical operations, and it is done by selectively severing a nerve from the affected inner ear organ. This reduces vertigo while preserving the sense of hearing of the patient, but it entails some surgical risks.
Other than than the surgical procedures, Meniere's disease treatment is also available in the form of homeopathic preparations. It is considered natural and free of side effects. However, other than treating the disease, it is also important to treat the ringing in the ears that go with it.
Making the unwanted noise less noticeable, hearing aids magnify the sounds in the wearer's background while maskers produce a selected band of noise, usually white noise, to mask the distracting sound. Stress management approaches such as counseling, tinnitus retraining therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy could help.
Alternative treatments like acupressure, acupuncture, yoga, meditation, reflexology and relaxation are also gaining popularity. More importantly, we should keep in mind that various treatments may be available, but they would be for nothing if we easily get stressed and frustrated when they do not take effect immediately.
Thank You for giving me my lifestyle back!
Hello John,
I am a trance dj and have been involved in the clubbing scene for about 10 years now. Im sure you know how i got tinnitus.
I bought a 12 week treatment of the meniere's disease remedy and at first i was really sceptical because my life was upside down.
I would play my gig at the club and than i would have to leave as soon as i was finished as the ringing was too much for me to handle. After 4 weeks of taking the treatment the noise level of my Tinnitus had been reduced by 90%.
I was "Ecstatic".
Within 8 week's i was finishing my gig's and than heading straight to the dancefloor to break it down with all my mates.
Thank you so much for all your help and constant support.
Best Regards
Lea Brooks
